B.J. Upton

2012 Stats: 146 Games, .246 BA, 28 HRs, 78 RBIs, 31 SBs & .752 OPS

The Atlanta Braves signed OF B.J. Upton to a 5 year $75 million contract. In 2012 the Braves made the playoffs but lost in the Wild Card round to the St. Louis Cardinals. Upton will play CF and can bat in a few places in the lineup and he is 90 hits away from 1,000 in his career. With the retirement of Chipper Jones look for the Braves to either go after a 3B or LF with Martin Prado filling in the other position.

Johnny Damon

The Tampa Bay Rays signed Johnny Damon. He re-joins former Boston teammate Manny Ramirez who was also signed by the Rays. Damon will spend time in LF, DH and perhaps even a little at 1B. Damon has 385 career stolen bases and is a career .287 hitter. More than the statistics that Damon has accumulated over his career, he has shown to be a team leader which is something the Rays need with a very young team.

Rafael Soriano

RP Rafael Soriano signed with the New York Yankees. Soriano will be used as a set-up guy for future Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera, and may be the team's long term answer to replace Rivera when the time comes. Soraino has 88 career saves and 49 career holds. Last season Soriano was an All-Star for the Tampa Bay Rays and led the Majors with 45 saves.

Carl Crawford

The Boston Red Sox signed LF Carl Crawford to a 7 year $142 million contract. The signing came a few days after the Red Sox traded for 1B Adrian Gonzalez. Crawford is a four-time All-Star, and won the All-Star game MVP in 2009. Crawford has five seasons with at least 50 stolen bases and a career high of 60 in 2009. Crawford won a Gold Glove in 2010.

Carlos Pena

Carlos Pena signed a 1 year 10 million dollar contract with the Chicago Cubs. Pena has spent his last four seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays. Pena hit .196 this past season with 28 HRs and 84 RBIs. Pena is a solid power hitter and does an excellent job defensively.
