My Four Favorite Commercials from Super Bowl XLV

One week ago, like many other people I was watching Super Bowl 45 between the Packers and Steelers. I was at a Super Bowl party with about 30 people and I was probably the only one there who actually cared about watching the game. As much as I enjoy watching the game I do love the commercials. Here are my favorite four from this year's Super Bowl, why four?, because that's all I liked.

The first one was an NFL commercial. It combined two of my favorite things: TV shows and football.

Next is this Volkswagon commercial. It's just super-cute, simple and has some humor.

The next one is a Budweiser commercial. I haven't liked a Budweiser commercial since the "Budweiser Frogs", but this was funny and I like the song "Tiny Dancer"

The final one that I liked was this Chrysler commercial. It makes a clear point, you know what they're selling (which is more of an issue in some ads than you'd think) and it uses Eminem and one of his excellent songs.

My Top Ten Favorite Cavs Players

It is now a little after the All-Star break in the NBA, and I've decided to unveil my 10 favorite people who played for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

10- Craig Ehlo: Ehlo is probably most famous for guarding Michael Jordan in the playoffs when Jordan traveled (of course not called) and hit a shot to beat the Cavs.

9-Andre Miller: Miller was supposed to be the point-guard of the future, well he wasn't, but he still makes my list.

8-Bobby Phills: he started his career as a backup to Gerald Wilkins (who by the way I can't stand), and ended as a good player. Sadly his untimely death shortened his career that could have been much better.

7-Anderson Varejao: the big haired F/C is the sparkplug that the Cavs need off the bench.

6-Zydrunus Illgauskus: this YU (Yuguslavia University) graduate has made a real name for himself in the NBA.

5-Terrell Brandon: learned from Mark Price how to be an NBA point guard.

4-John "Hot Rod" Williams: he probably would not have been this high if not for his great nickname.

3-LeBron James: The King is great, but it's time he takes the Cavs to the next level.

2-Mark Price: Price has made the most 3 pointers by a Cavalier, he is also first amongst Cavs in assists, steals and free-throw percentage.

1-Brad Daugherty: if not for knee problems he could have been on of the best centers in NBA history. Also when I was on the ASHAR Basketball Team I wore the number 43 in honor of Daugherty who had retired that year.

Pictured are Daugherty (43), Price (25), and James (23)

TV Show Characters

I love to watch TV. I enjoy many TV shows. There are many shows who have great main characters. Others have a good group of characters. Here is a list of my favorite characters from some of my favorite TV shows. Most people who will appear on this list will not be the main characters, but without them the show would not have been as enjoyable.

  1. Wilson from Home Improvement: Wilson is the neighbor that everyone would love to have, never seen and only heard when you need him.
  2. Margret from The West Wing: The West Wing is packed with characters who have better story lines, but Margret is wonderful as the Secretary to Leo McGarry and then to C.J. Craig.
  3. Van from Reba: I'm embarrassed to say that I have watched Reba, but the only reason that I continue to watch it is because of Van.
  4. Detective John Munch from Law & Order SVU: Richard Belzer does a great job in SVU. Only in Law & Order can a Jewish comedian be partners with the "Original Gangsta" Ice-T.
  5. Greg Warner from Yes, Dear: Greg had to deal with his brother-in-law at home and work, which made for some very funny episodes.
  6. Buddy Lembeck from Charles in Charge: With Scott Baio who is 2nd to Ted McGinley in killing shows (check out jumptheshark.com to see what I'm talking about here) Charles in Charge needed some comedy to it. Enter Willie Aames as Charles' fun loving sidekick Buddy. It's just a shame he didn't get a spin-off.
  7. Dr. Cox from Scrubs: He is the cynical and sinister doctor on Scrubs.
  8. Radar O'reilly from MASH: Radar was just a boy when he entered the show, but became a man right before our eyes, even though he was still drinking grape sodas and Rosie's.
  9. Mr. Richard Belding from Saved by the Bell: Growing up with this show Mr. Belding was the Principal I always wanted. For a total dork he was always there for the students, even when Zack Morris did anything stupid (like in every single episode, you'd think that he'd learn what not to do by the time he was a Senior but no he kept on doing all the stupid stuff).
  10. Eric Matthews from Boy Meets World: Cory was the main character, Shawn was the "Rebellious one", Eric was the funny one.

Well this is my list. Of course there are so many more I could have added like the ladies from the Golden Girls, and that monkey from Friends, but had I added them where would it have stopped, so sadly not everyone was able to make the list.

My Top Ten Favorite Ohio State Buckeyes Players

With Monday January 8th being the BCS National Championship Game, I decided to make a list of my top ten favorite Buckeyes. Some of them went on to have great NFL careers, while others were only good in their college days. Ohio State has a rich history and it is thanks to Head Coaches named Hayes,Cooper and Tressel even if some of them were never able to beat the Wolverines from Michigan. Well here goes the countdown:
10. Antoine Winfield-CB: Was a solid defensive back with Nate Clements and Ahmed Plummer.
9. Andy Katzenmoyer-LB: "The Big Kat" never panned out in the NFL but was one of a long line of great Ohio State Linebackers.
8. Joey Galloway & Terry Glenn-WR: These speedsters did wonderful in college, especially if you consider that they didn't have such good Quarterbacks throwing the ball to them.
7. Nick Mangold-C: The anchor of the Buckeyes' O-line is now anchoring for the New York Jets.
6. Pepper Johnson-LB: The NY Giants got Pepper in the 2nd round of the 1986 draft. He won Super Bowls with the Giants and was a major reason why the Cleveland Browns made the playoffs in 1994.
5. Robert Smith-RB: His NFL career was cut short due to injury but was a good player and a great teammate.
4. Troy Smith-QB: With his 3-o record against Michigan and a Heisman Trophy to his credit, all he needs is a win Monday Night against Florida, and he'll be moving up this list.
3. Eddie George-RB: Another one of Ohio State's Heisman winners, had a great pro career with the Oilers/Titans.
2. Chris Spielman-LB: Spielman was recently on the Mike & Mike radio show and said, "if not for Ohio players Michigan would be Iowa." 'nuff said.
1. A.J. Hawk-LB: The team's defensive leader, has passed the torch on to James Laurinaitis as the next great OSU linebacker.
Other players receiving votes: Lou Groza; Tom Tupa; Bobby Carpenter; Orlando Pace; Keith Byars; Jeff Davidson; Mike Vrabel; David Boston; Shawn Springs; Archie Griffin; Mike Nugent.
So hope you enjoyed the list and that you will enjoy the game which airs Monday Night at 8:15 on FOX.
